Never had a problem with 20w50 in my 1993 Camry. Also here it never goes below 1 degree Celsius. But average 25 to 35 in summer. I use 15w40 in winter

Is this really a Shell commercial!? Testing at ~-35 C, a mineral vs semi-synthetic, thus them W-referenced along SAE J300 to -15 C and -20 C respectively. No wonder the semi-synthetic flows better.
Iived in Montana run 20/50 all the time never an issue not ever. the oils thicker stays on parts if your worried about it add Muscle MT10 to the oil and never look back. It's an anti friction metal treatment added to any oil for motors transmissions hydraulics ECT... They have testing on the muscle MT 10 here on RUclips best stuff ever.
Well I use 20W-50 because the average temp here in my city is 40c.

We all know 20w50 is no good at -40 maybe 0F or above i use 20w50 only in summer time

20w 50 is only good to about 0 degrees Fahrenheit
even at 0 F i would consider a to low temperature for using 20W50 . No lower as 45 i would go use this oil. Mine is a modified road engine, more load on bearings especially valvetrain components wich have gone up in load, and a bit of a leadfoot i got. i will find out how Valvoline VR1 20W/50 performs in my car.

you dont want to start any piston aircraft engine with any of these oils in those temperatures.. engine needs to be preheated or spend the night in a hangar... it wouldn´t survive that too often...

What does the first 'w' stand for?
Eric Ernst The "w" stands for "winter" when seen in oil grade designations. 5w-30 would be read as a 5 grade's viscosity when cold which is suitable for winter, and a 30 grade's viscosity when hot.
mannys9130 the first w in aeroshell w 15w-50. I have since learned that it us a designator for shell's ashless dispersant oil.
